About the role
The Compliance Officer, reporting directly to the Banks Compliance & Risk Manager (CRM), plays a critical role in ensuring CSB’s adherence to all relevant legal and internal regulations in its day-to-day operations, client on boarding processes, and banking transactions. This position involves reviewing employees' work, providing guidance, and offering feedback on CSB’s compliance program to the CRM.


The ideal candidate for the Compliance Officer role is a dependable professional who possesses the ability to express their opinions confidently and stand by their decisions. As an entry level compliance role they should possess some understanding of risk management principles and be familiar with industry standards within the local and international banking sectors.
The primary objective of the Compliance Officer is to ensure that CSB’s operational procedures and practices are conducted in a manner that is both legally compliant and ethically sound, while simultaneously aligning with CSB’s overall business goals.


Responsibilities
• Monitor day-to-day internal controls and ensure CSB’s employee compliance with them.
• Conduct spot checks on processes, practices, and documents to identify weaknesses and recommend improvements to the CRM.
• Management of CSB’s ongoing client monitoring and periodic client file review procedures.
• Collaborate with the CRM in the development and implementation of a robust compliance
program.
• Assist the CRM in drafting and revising CSB’s policies and procedures to align with regulatory
• standards.
• Work closely with external auditors during the review of CSB’s compliance program.
• Provide education and training to CSB employees on regulations, industry practices, and
internal processes and procedures.
• Stay updated on internal standards and business goals to ensure alignment with compliance
objectives.


Requirements
• Proven experience as a Banking or Compliance Officer, demonstrating an understanding of
banking operations and compliance practices.
• Familiarity with the Cook Islands Banking legal requirements and controls, including AntiMoney Laundering (AML) regulations, and the ability to apply this knowledge effectively.
• Exceptional written skills, with the ability to produce accurate and comprehensive
compliance documentation.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Strong commitment to integrity and professional ethics, ensuring compliance with
regulations and promoting a culture of ethical behaviour within CSB
