The Board of Capital Security Bank (CSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of John Evans as Chief Executive Officer, effective 22 January 2021.

John joined CSB in 2012 and in his prior roles has been responsible for the day to day
operations of the bank including client on-boarding, marketing, compliance, risk management and information technology and has a full understanding of our business. We are very pleased to be able to choose an internal candidate and we are looking forward to CSB’s continued growth under his leadership.

This appointment is a clear reflection of CSB’s long term strategy. Soundly capitalised, with excellent partners in correspondent banking and asset management firms, there are many areas for CSB to grow and John will be at the forefront ensuring that our clients and CSB achieve continued success.

He brings over 17 years of banking experience to the position and has a specialised knowledge of the banking and finance industries both in the Cook Islands, initially with Westpac Banking Corporation, and also internationally. John is a New Zealander and lives in Rarotonga with his wife Julia and their two sons.

John succeeds Gerard Field, our current CEO, who advised the Board that he would be returning to New Zealand when his contract expires on 21 January 2021.
Under Gerard’s stewardship CSB has developed in a number of key areas and we thank Gerard for his valuable contribution. Gerard and John have been working together to facilitate a smooth transition.

Today’s announcement follows another strong financial year ending December 2020 in which CSB achieved continued growth in Total Assets (up 15%), Total Equity (up 12%) and maintains a Total Capital Ratio in excess of 21%.
